The inauguration ceremony of the first Muslim mayor of New York was held with the Holy Quran – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Rasha Today, Zahran Mamdani, the Muslim and Democratic mayor of New York City, held his inauguration ceremony last night at the historic Manhattan subway station with a copy of the Holy Quran, thus officially starting his job as mayor.
His inauguration ceremony was held by New York State Attorney General and political ally Letitia James at the old City Hall station, one of the city’s first subway stations.
Mamdani is scheduled to take the oath again in a public and more formal ceremony at the New York City Hall today at 1 pm local time. This ceremony will be held with the presence of Bernie Sanders, the American senator and one of his political role models.
By assuming this position, Mamdani became one of the busiest politicians in America and became one of the most popular politicians in this country.
In addition to being the first Muslim mayor of New York, Mamdani is also the first mayor of South Asian origin and the first mayor born in Africa. By assuming this position at the age of 34, he is considered one of the youngest mayors of New York in recent generations.
