Palestinian Statistics Center: Gaza’s population decreased by 10% – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoted by Arabi 21, the Palestinian Statistics Center announced today that the population of the Gaza Strip has decreased by 10.6 percent in two years.
The Palestinian Statistics Center’s comprehensive report on the situation of Palestinians at the end of 2025 showed that statistical indicators reflect a real human and demographic disaster with long-term effects on demographic stability and development.
According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the number of martyrs in Palestine since the beginning of Israel’s aggression on October 7, 2023 has reached more than 72 thousand people, 98% of whom were in the Gaza Strip. This is the highest number of martyrs in the history of the aggression of the Zionist occupation against the Palestinian people.
Out of a total of 2.2 million people who lived in the Gaza Strip before the invasion, about 100,000 Palestinians have been forced to leave Gaza since the beginning of the invasion, and about two million people have been displaced from their homes.
These human losses and forced migration have directly affected the population size, as population estimates show that the population of the State of Palestine will reach about 5.56 million people at the end of 2025, of which 3.43 million people are in the West Bank.
In contrast, the Gaza Strip has seen a sharp and unprecedented population decline of about 254,000 people, which is equivalent to a 10.6% decrease compared to pre-invasion population estimates. The population of Gaza is currently 2.13 million people.
According to the Palestinian Statistics Center, by the end of 2025, the estimated population of Palestinians in the world is about 15.49 million people, of which 5.56 million people live in Palestine, of which about 1.86 million people live in the territories of 1948.
TheThe almost complete destruction of the health and education system in the Gaza Strip
TheThe invasion of the Gaza Strip by the occupiers since October 7, 2023 has led to the almost complete collapse of the health care system. According to the data of the World Health Organization, about 94% of the health care centers and hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been damaged or destroyed, and only 19 of the 36 hospitals are operating partially and with a very limited operational capacity. The severe shortage of medicines and medical equipment, exhaustion of the medical staff and frequent interruption of the fuel needed to run the electricity generators are other problems in the health sector in Gaza.
Information from the Ministry of Health shows very dangerous human consequences; About 60,000 pregnant women in the Gaza Strip are exposed to serious health risks due to the lack of or limited health care services.
Also, more than 70% of Gaza residents depend on contaminated or unsafe drinking water. Data shows that 96% of families suffer from insecurity in water sources.
The education sector in Gaza has suffered an unprecedented destruction. More than 179 public schools were completely destroyed and 218 were bombed or destroyed.
