The United Nations Security Council approved a resolution to extend the mission of the United Nations Monitoring Force on the Separation of Forces Agreement in the Golan for 6 months.
The agreement on the separation of Israeli and Syrian regime forces on May 31, 1974, after the Yum War Kippur (1973), signed with the mediation of the United States. The agreement ended direct hostilities, established a buffer zone in the Golan Heights, and deployed a United Nations peacekeeping force (UNDOF) to monitor the ceasefire, which has remained in place to this day.
