Axios: Senior officials in Washington no longer believe Netanyahu
Referring to the imminent meeting between Trump and the Israeli Prime Minister, Axios revealed the free fall of Netanyahu’s credibility inside Trump’s White House and wrote: American officials no longer believe Netanyahu, but Trump still loves him.
According to RCO News Agency, Axios reporter Barak Ravid, referring to a series of statements by White House officials, says: “Netanyahu has lost some of the close associates of US President Donald Trump, such as J.D. Vance, his deputy, Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, Steve Whitkoff, special envoy, and Susie Wiles, Trump’s chief of staff.” The only person left is Trump himself, who still loves him, but Trump also wants the Gaza agreement to go faster than it is today.
Netanyahu and Trump are scheduled to meet Monday at their Maralago, Florida mansion to discuss the future of Gaza, an issue Trump is eager to resolve quickly.
Ravid says about this meeting: “The officials of the White House believe that Netanyahu is acting slowly in the peace process and they fear that he will resume the war with Hamas. But a senior Israeli official said that while the Israeli prime minister is engaged with Trump’s team, he hopes to sway the president himself to a more bellicose view.
Ravid quoted another White House official as saying: “It has been felt for some time that the Israelis have regretted. “It’s hard enough to implement the Gaza deal, but the Israelis sometimes do things that make it even harder.”
Another White House official told the Axios reporter, “Sometimes we feel that the Israeli army forces are only looking to kill Hamas forces.”
In recent months, the White House has warned Israel not to violate the fragile Gaza ceasefire.
