Researchers from the University of Graz in Austria and the Skoltech Institute of Science and Technology in Russia have worked together to use artificial intelligence to study the Sun and the magnetic field in its upper atmosphere.
According to Tekna technology and technology news service, despite the many studies of scientists in this field, magnetic fields and how they are formed are still unknown to scientists. Scientists’ information about the formation of sunspots is similarly very limited. As a result of events such as flaring or ejection of the savior mass, a large amount of electromagnetic radiation is separated from the sun and causes changes in the atmosphere of the space around the sun. The prediction of the atmosphere in space can be related to human survival in outer space in the future. Currently, scientists can only observe the surface of these solar magnetic fields. Artificial intelligence can help scientists by speeding up various researches.
Graz and Skoltech researchers developed a neural network using physical data. With this work, the researchers were able to obtain a comprehensive understanding between the observed phenomena and the underlying physical phenomena in the sun. The computing system of this research team was able to correctly calculate the magnetic energy released in the solar corona. Observation of ultraviolet rays has also confirmed this research method. The researchers finally managed to observe the reduction of energy released in these areas. They suggest that such results were obtained after a solar flare.
