Egypt: We will not rule over Gaza
Egypt’s foreign minister confirmed on Saturday that “Egypt’s priorities are now focused on consolidating the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and quickly transitioning to the second phase.”
According to RCO News Agency, “Badr Abdel Ati”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, during the 2025 Doha Forum, emphasized the need to deliver large amounts of humanitarian and medical aid at the same time as preparations for reconstruction begin, especially with the onset of winter.
He noted that Israel daily violates the agreement and claims that the other side is violating it.
While calling for the dispatch of international observers to monitor the situation, Abdel Ati emphasized that the deployment of an international stabilization force in Gaza should be urgent.
According to Sputnik, Abdul Ati explained that the Rafah crossing is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the Egyptian side, but Israel keeps it closed from the Gaza side.
He called for the reopening of all crossings for the flow of aid and stressed that this crossing will not be a gate for displacement and that Egypt will continue to support Palestinians to stay in their land.
Egypt’s foreign minister rejected any foreign sovereignty over Gaza and stated that a Palestinian state would include Gaza, the West Bank and all territories occupied since June 1967.
He noted that the situation in the West Bank is worse than in Gaza due to daily attacks by settlers aimed at intimidating residents and forcing them to leave.
Abdul Ati emphasized that Trump’s peace plan should be considered as a single and integrated plan.
He stated that the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza in the second phase is a fundamental condition for stability, while at the same time allowing the Palestinian Authority to deploy throughout Gaza to ensure unity with the West Bank.
He stressed: “Without a Palestinian state, there will be no peace and this is the only solution for security in the region.”
At the same time, “Donald Trump”, the President of the United States, plans to announce the transfer of the Gaza peace process to the second stage and to unveil a new governing structure for the Gaza Strip before the Christmas holidays.
