American media: Europe is preparing a counter plan with the US peace initiative in Ukraine
European Union leaders are preparing a separate peace plan in response to the US 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine – which in their opinion is a one-sided concession to Russia.
According to RCO News Agency, the American media reported that the leaders of the European Union are trying to develop an independent plan to end the war in Ukraine; A plan that, from their point of view, provides better conditions for Kyiv.
According to the Wall Street Journal, European politicians are trying to convince Ukraine to support the draft plan, but so far Kiev has not officially joined it.
“Europe hopes to have the plan ready within the next few days, but Ukraine has not yet made a commitment to join,” the report said.
This publication adds that Europe may intend to express its dissatisfaction with the American plan by developing this new plan. According to the report, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is going to discuss Washington’s initiative with European officials.
In private conversations, European leaders have described US President Donald Trump’s plan as “full surrender of Ukraine” and announced that they will try to use their connections in Washington to dissuade the US government from pursuing this plan.
American and Russian officials have drawn up a joint plan to end the war in Ukraine. The United States has consulted with the Russian representative Kirill Dmitriev in the process of drafting it. After the meeting with Dmitriev, this plan was also discussed with Rostam Amrov, the national security adviser of Ukraine.
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially received the draft of this plan from the United States and is going to discuss it with Trump soon.
The full text of the 28-point US peace plan, which Washington wants Ukraine and Russia to sign in the near future, has already been made public.
A senior White House official confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that the plan is “difficult” for Ukraine, but claimed that Washington believes the war must end or “Ukraine is likely to lose more territory.”
