Bloomberg: Trump’s plan for Ukraine includes the lifting of Russian sanctions
The American media reported that the plan of the president of this country to end the war in Ukraine includes the cancellation of sanctions against Russia. Zelensky also received signals from Washington that he should accept the agreement that was prepared in consultation with Moscow.
According to RCO News Agency, in the last few days, Western media reported that the United States and Russia are holding secret consultations to develop a 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine.
“Russia is trying to prevent US sanctions against Rosneft and Lukoil oil companies,” Bloomberg News media reported on Thursday evening, citing an unnamed source.
“President Donald Trump’s 28-point plan to end the war in Ukraine includes, among other things, the lifting of sanctions against Russia,” the source told Bloomberg.
However, nothing more than this and which sanctions against Russia will be lifted, no information has been published yet.
Donald Trump’s 28-point plan calls for Russia to take full control of Luhansk and Donetsk (together called the Donbass), even though Ukraine still apparently controls about 12 percent of the territory there.
Bloomberg also reported pressure on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying: “As Ukraine’s president faces growing domestic pressure to abandon his most trusted aide in the war with Russia, he is struggling to resist a humiliating peace deal offered by US officials.”
“Zelensky has received signals from the United States that he should accept the agreement prepared in consultation with Moscow,” the source told the American news outlet.
The White House has not yet responded to requests for comment.
“Zelensky is facing pressure from the United States to make concessions to end the war, as he also prepares to meet with lawmakers from his own party on Thursday to ease public anger over the corruption scandal,” Bloomberg continued. Anti-corruption investigators have linked his former business partner to a scheme to embezzle up to $100 million; “The investigation that has led to the resignation of two government ministers.”
Some in Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s party want him to replace his chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, who plays a direct role in decisions about high-level appointments and critical elements of Ukraine’s wartime strategy, according to a person familiar with the matter.
This anonymous person added: “If President Zelensky does not remove Yermak, he will face a parliamentary crisis.”
Andriy Yermak, who constantly accompanies Zelensky on foreign trips, has gained a lot of influence in the government. Zelenskiy responded to the criticism last year, describing Yermak as a “powerful manager.”
This domestic political challenge in Ukraine is taking place as Ukrainian officials seek clarification on the plan to end the war presented by the special envoy of the US president, Steve Wittkoff, and the representative of Russia, Kirill Dmitriev.
Bloomberg emphasized: “Ukrainian and European officials still do not know whether Trump will support these proposals and what will happen if Kiev rejects them.” “On the other hand, Ukraine relies on US intelligence support for US air defense and weapons, which are mainly financed by Europeans.”
The European Union foreign ministers also expressed concern about these proposals during their negotiations in Brussels on Thursday.
