Adopting security measures for the transfer of ballot boxes in Iraq – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Waa Iraqi News Agency, Qais Al-Mohammadavi, the head of the Election Security Committee and the deputy of the Iraq Joint Operations Command, announced that this committee has prepared a plan to transfer ballot boxes and memory cards from remote areas.
Al-Mohammadavi said: According to the election law, which was promulgated by the Independent High Commissioner of Elections, this year there should be three cameras in each electoral district to record the voting from three angles. The images of these cameras are considered as official documents that will be referred to in case of objection or doubt from any political organization. These cameras are one of the main legal requirements for the commissariat and record all events from the opening of the polling stations to their closing.
He said: Transferring ballot boxes and voting equipment and memory cards from remote areas is a big challenge, therefore a detailed plan has been prepared with the coordination of the Air Force to transfer these items from cities and remote areas to provincial centers.
The head of Iraq’s election security committee added: Election items are transferred to the city centers and voter registration offices under the supervision of employees and security forces, and then to the offices of the High Commissioner. The Army Air Force will be responsible for moving election items between provinces that have airports, but for provinces that are 100 to 150 kilometers away from Baghdad, election items will be moved by military vehicles to ensure their arrival on time.
