Electoral silence in Iraq will begin tomorrow – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to Mehr news agency, quoting Waa news agency, the election process in Iraq will enter the stage of electoral silence from tomorrow, Saturday, before the special voting for the armed forces and general voting.
The independent high commission of elections of Iraq announced its full readiness to hold the election process in coordination with the relevant security institutions.
This commissioner announced in a statement that the electoral silence phase will start at 7 am tomorrow and will continue until the end of public voting.
In this statement, it was pointed out that any advertising activities for candidates or election lists during this period of time is a clear violation of the guidelines and legal measures will be taken against the offending institutions.
The Independent High Commissioner of Elections of Iraq emphasized that the goal of electoral silence in Iraq is to create a calm atmosphere that gives voters the opportunity to choose their representatives without influence and last-minute propaganda.
This commissariat asked the political institutions and the media to strictly adhere to the regulations related to election silence in order to maintain the integrity of the election process and equal opportunity for all.
The Independent High Commissioner of Elections of Iraq further called on all citizens to participate widely in special and general voting and to contribute effectively to the consolidation of the democratic experience and the free and responsible selection of their representatives.
Special voting is scheduled to begin on Sunday, November 9 at 7:00 AM. The general voting will be done after the special voting and will start on the morning of Tuesday, November 11.
