Zolskyki ceasefire proposal to Russia
The Ukrainian president says Kiev has offered Russia to Russia before a possible meeting.
Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelksky announced that Ukraine had offered a ceasefire to Russia before a possible high -level meeting aimed at achieving peace.
“The Russians are not ready for the ceasefire – at least not on the current level of their current delegation,” Zelksky claimed that Russia at the Istanbul summit, “instead of the ceasefire proposal, was appointed for Ukraine.” They told us directly that this is at the level of leaders. “We offer the Russians the ceasefire before the meeting, and I think our partners will support it too.”
He added that Ukraine is immediately ready for such a meeting.
“My personal stance is that we are ready to meet immediately,” the Ukrainian president said. The meeting could be held in a place by the Russians – Istanbul, the Vatican, Switzerland – each of these options is possible. “We suggest meeting next Monday, every day it is right.”
Zelksky expressed hope that US President Donald Trump would support the idea.
“I am confident that President Erdogan will support it; In our previous interviews, he said that he would like to hold a quadruple meeting: President Erdogan, President Trump, Me and Putin. We are ready for such a meeting every day. “
The Ukrainian president emphasized that if the leaders’ meeting did not lead to progress in the direction of reducing tension or peace, Russia could unilaterally end the ceasefire on the same day.
Zelksky also noted that even if Russia does not want to examine the long -term ceasefire, Ukraine is still ready to visit even tomorrow.
The second round of talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations took place on June 6 in Istanbul. Following the talks, the Ukrainian Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Ukrainian negotiating board announced that the country had suggested a meeting between Ukrainian Presidents and Russia on June 1-8.
