A senior Cuban official in Washington on Tuesday accused the Trump administration of provoking a military confrontation by exacerbating tensions between the two countries, Mehr News Agency quoted Reuters as saying.

His government has taken a strict stance towards Cuba since Donald Trump came to power in January. These include bringing Cuba back to the list of supporters of terrorism, intensifying restrictions on financial remittances, and suspension of immigration programs that allowed some Cubans to work in the United States.

Although Trump officials have not so far threatened military action against Cuba, a US State Department spokesman claimed that the Trump administration has not seen any signs of the Cuban government’s readiness to make a significant conversation with Washington.
