Trump’s controversial plan to transfer one million Palestinians to Libya – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
US President Donald Trump’s administration is investigating a plan to permanently transfer about one million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Libya, the NBC News reported.
Two sources informed about the details of the plan and a former US official have told the network that the Trump administration had also shared it with the Libyan officials.
According to sources, in exchange for Palestinian resettlement in Libya, the US government is likely to release billions of dollars from Libya’s assets blocked in the United States more than a decade ago.
However, no final agreement has yet been reached, and according to the same sources, the Zionist regime has been informed of these consultations.
The US State Department and the White House National Security Council have not responded to numerous NBC News requests.
Meanwhile, Bassem Naeem, a senior Hamas movement official who heads the Gaza Strip, told the news channel that the movement was unaware of any negotiations on the transfer of Palestinians to Libya.
In response to NBC questions, he said: “Palestinians have a deep root in their land and are strongly adherent to it.” They are ready to stand up to defend their children’s land, family and future. Only the Palestinians themselves, including the inhabitants of Gaza, have the right to decide on their fate.
The NBC also announced that the Zionist regime’s representatives have also refused to comment.
