Fidan warned: NATO’s main values are threatened
The Turkish Foreign Minister warned that NATO’s main values are under threat, stressing that in the face of challenges, our biggest asset is our unity and solidarity.
According to RCO News Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said in a statement: “The main values of peace and stability that our (NATO) alliance defends are exposed to unprecedented threats in places like Ukraine and Gaza.”
In his speech at the opening of a dinner banquet in honor of NATO foreign ministers who traveled to the Mediterranean Recreational City in Turkey to attend the informal meeting of the Coalition, NATO was named as “the most successful alliance in human history”, but not only our power.
“This is happening at a time when the challenges and terrorism pose serious risks to our democracies,” he said. In the face of these challenges, our biggest asset is our unity and solidarity.
The Turkish Foreign Affairs, emphasizing the “importance of unity in NATO’s ultimate goals and obligations,” urged the United States to combine it with the necessary capabilities that support the will and obligations of unity in an effective, just and inclusive manner.
These include the fair division of responsibility on both sides of the Atlantic in our unity, unlimited cooperation in the defense industry between allies and investing in our future collective defense through innovation, Fidan said. Undoubtedly, some of this requires that our governments make hard and bold decisions in a world full of urgent responsibilities.
Turkey’s senior diplomat said that “it is the task of the coalition to clearly but not worrying the dimensions of the threats that everyone is facing,” urged NATO to explain the needs of overcoming these challenges and to assure people that they are not alone in the process.
