According to French President Emmanuel Macron, the ceasefire is to be implemented by the United States with the support of Europe.
In the same vein, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday morning proposed a direct talks with Ukraine on May 9 in Istanbul, Turkey, which he said should be aimed at bringing sustainable peace and eliminating the roots of the war.
He said Russia proposes direct talks with Ukraine in Istanbul in an attempt to “eliminate the roots of conflict” and “achieve long -term and sustainable peace restore” rather than merely to restore weapons.
“We suggest that Kiev resumes direct negotiations without any preconditions,” Putin said in the early hours of Sunday. We suggest Kiev’s authorities to resume talks in Istanbul on Thursday.
However, Ukrainian President Walodimir Zelnsky urged Russia to confirm the ceasefire before the talks began. He urged Russia to confirm the unconditional ceasefire on May 9 (Monday) and said Ukraine would be ready to meet direct talks with Russia.
