Lavrov: Non -Brecks will also have access to new payment systems
The Russian Foreign Minister announced that non -Brix countries will also be able to use them after setting up alternative payment systems within the coalition.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today (Friday) said at a News conference after the Foreign Ministers’ summit that countries that are not members of the Brix will also have access to the paid systems created within the group.
“In addition to national currencies, payment systems can be created that are independent of foreign influence,” he added. One of the options is the financial messaging system of the Russian Central Bank, which is comfortable and not dependent on Swift. “Other initiatives are being investigated, especially within the framework of Brix, which Brazil has offered and is ongoing.”
According to Lavrov, “I am confident that even non -Brix countries will have access to them after these mechanisms.”
Brex member states have been discussing in recent years about the expansion of settlements in national currencies and even the creation of a joint currency, but no final decision has been made yet. The Brazilian president also said earlier in February that Brix was considering options to create alternative payment systems among members.
The Brix Coalition was formed in 2008 with Russia, China, India and Brazil, and South Africa joined it in year 2. Since the beginning of the year, several new countries have joined the group.
