US Senator Design to Imposing New Sanctions against Russia – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news
A group of senators from both the Democratic and Republican parties have submitted a bill in the Senate, which will impose more sanctions against Moscow if the negotiations at the end of the Russian -Ukraine war have not progressed, according to the Mehr News Agency.
The move comes after Trump has recently spoken of further sanctions against Russia. Moscow agreed to temporarily stop attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure in March, but did not accept the US proposal for a complete ceasefire.
Lindsi Graham, Republican Senator and Richard Bluemate“Sanctions against Russia will include secondary tariffs on buying countries for oil, gas, uranium and other Russian products,” Democratic Senator wrote in a joint statement. “These sanctions are strictly designed.”
“The prevailing view of the US Senate is that Russia is an invasion, and this terrible war and rape of Putin must be over and prevented in the future,” they added.
The bill, with the support of two Republican senators and two Democratic senators, represents widespread bilateral support for Ukraine among US lawmakers.
Trump’s policy on Ukraine has caused a dispute between him and some of his Republican party. The US president in February claimed that Kiev was responsible for Russia’s invasion.
