Bogdanov’s emphasis on the continuation of Russian aid to the Syrian people – Mehr News Agency | Iranian and world news

Mikhail Bogdanov, the Russian President’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, stressed that Russia would continue to help the Syrians, according to the Mehr News Agency.

Speaking to the Russian newspaper Izostia, he said: “Syria is having a difficult time these days. We hope that the people of this country successfully overcome the many problems that have caused the long crisis in this country.

“We, in turn, are ready to continue the help of the Syrian people,” he said.

He noted: Relations between the two countries have historically been based on friendship, the principles of mutual respect and the interests of each other. I am confident that these relationships will also be mutually expanded in a way that will benefit both parties.

Bogdanov emphasized: Moscow has always supported Syria’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. We support the fact that the future of this country must be determined by the Syrians themselves through the national dialogue and given the legitimate interests of all political forces, ethnic and religious groups.

It is noteworthy that a delegation of senior Russian officials, attended by Mikhail Bogdanov and Alexander Lavarntiv, went to Damascus last January after Assad’s fall and met with new sovereignty in the country.
