Tadin’s house; A reminder of the glory of Qajar architecture in Semnan

Semnan’s Tadin House, also known as the “House of Mohammedia”, is one of the most beautiful old Iranian houses and one of the prominent examples of Qajar architecture in Semnan. This historic house, located on Taleghani Street in Semnan, is of interest to many tourists and researchers because of its unique architectural features.

The house of Tadin was built in the late Qajar period and was used as a residence of one of Semnan’s prominent businessmen, Mohammadiyeh, the son -in -law of Mirza Abdullah Tadin. The structure of the house is designed in two parts and the interior; The outer part comprises two large arches and basements that were used as public spaces and reception. The inner part of the summer rooms consisted of a windmill and winter rooms that were used as the private spaces of the family.

One of the unique features of this house is its windmills that act as a natural ventilation system in the summer and provide pleasant air indoors. With their clever design, these windmills direct the flow of cool air into the house and reduce the summer heat. Semnan’s Tadin House has been registered as one of Iran’s national monuments on December 5, 2009. The house is currently used as the site of the Semnan Province Cultural Heritage Department and is open to the public.
