Deadly collision of US Army passenger plane and helicopter in the capital’s sky
Three people have been killed so far after a passenger aircraft and a US military helicopter in the capital.
A passenger aircraft owned by American Airlines with four passengers collided with a US military Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan Airport outside Washington, DC, ISNA reported.
A large number of relief workers were dispatched to the scene.
The passenger aircraft with four passengers and four crews came from Kansas.
CNN quoted defense officials as saying that three soldiers were present at the Black Hawk helicopter who had risen from the Fort Boulevard base.
Defense officials say the Black Hawk helicopter was on an educational flight.
A CCTV has recorded the moment of the helicopter and aircraft, showing how the helicopter collides with the plane.
All input and exit flights from Reagan Airport stopped.
CNN quoted sources as saying that the carcass crashed into the Potoomak River and the carcass is in the nearby waters.
The media reported that the incident has caused casualties. However, relief forces have not yet been able to get people out of the water.
The CBS network, however, says the divers have removed the corpse from the Potomak River.
A senior FBI official told NBC Network so far no signs of terrorism.
