The Canadian province of Alberta has published the details of two large receptions held in the last week of August 2021.
Alberta’s provincial immigration program held its largest intake ever on August 23, issuing invitations to 450 Express Entry applicants through the Alberta Express Entry stream. Invited applicants should have at least 300 points in the comprehensive rating system or CRS.
Then, on August 30, during another admission, which is actually the biggest admission since 2019, he issued a permit to 400 applicants with a minimum score of 301.
In this way, the province of Alberta has issued invitations to a total of 4,007 Express Entry applicants so far in 2021 to submit their application for provincial selection. Alberta is allowed to issue up to 6,250 invitations this year. Of course, anyone who receives an invitation will not be elected by the province, and anyone who is elected by the province will not necessarily receive residency.
All applicants had a profile in the Express Entry system. Recipients of an Invitation or Notice of Intent – NOI – can now apply to be selected on behalf of Alberta. If Alberta’s provincial immigration program approves their application, they will receive an additional 600 points on their next Federal Express Entry admission.
What is Express Entry?
It should be noted that the Express Entry system is a system for immigrating to Canada that attracts immigrants from all over the world based on points and criteria in three categories of federal skilled labor or skilled worker, jobs that require Canadian skills and experience. Candidates are classified based on their score in the comprehensive ranking system; The system scores candidates based on English or French proficiency (Canada‘s two official languages), age, education and work experience. For the candidates who have the highest score, an ITA (Invitation to Apply for Permanent Residence) is issued at the time of admissions. It is not necessary to have a job offer to enter the express entry queue. Applicants who are selected by the province will receive 600 additional points in the comprehensive ranking system, and thus they will definitely be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada in the next Express Entry admission.
Alberta currently only considers applicants who live and work in Alberta. Usually, it is not necessary to have a job offer to receive an invitation through Alberta’s Express Entry immigration route. Alberta has more flexibility for PNP applicants who cannot complete their documents due to disruptions caused by the corona virus.
As of November 1, 2020, the federal government has increased the number of occupations that are not eligible to apply for an LMIA in Alberta. But applicants who received an invitation on or after November 1, 2020, may be selected through Alberta’s Express Entry immigration pathway even if they work in an occupation that the federal government does not consider for LMIA.
Alberta was allowed to issue up to 6,250 invitations in 2020. But because of Corona, he increased this quota to 4000. He issued all these 4000 invitations by June 2020. That is why he did not issue an invitation in the second half of 2020. The number of Alberta quotas for invitations in 2021 has not yet been announced.
