Stormer’s arrival in Kiev; Britain and Ukraine sign a “100-year partnership” treaty! – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Associated Press, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Kyiv on the eve of the inauguration of Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States on January 20, with the aim of declaring his support for Ukraine and signing the 100-partnership agreement with this country.
The British government announced that Starmer and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky would sign a “100-year partnership” between London and Kiev in areas including defence, science, energy and trade.
Starmer’s unexpected visit to Ukraine is his first visit to the country since taking office in July 2024. He traveled to Kiev in 2023 when he was the leader of the British opposition and has met with Zelensky twice in London since taking over the British Prime Minister’s seat.
After entering the Kyiv train station, Starmer was greeted by Martin Harris, the British ambassador to Ukraine, as well as Valery Zalogeny, the Ukrainian envoy in London.
Britain is one of the biggest military supporters of Ukraine, and since the beginning of Russia’s attack on the country in February 2022, it has provided about 16 billion dollars to Kyiv and trained more than 50,000 Ukrainian troops in London.
Starmer is also going to unveil another 49 billion dollars in aid for the economic recovery of Ukraine after the war.
