The latest position of the Iraqi interior minister about the country’s borders with Syria – Mehr News agency RCO News Agency
According to RCO News Agency, quoted by Al-Arabiya, Iraqi Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari said that all border crossings with Syria are still closed.
He added: Iraq will not allow infiltration from Syria to Iraq or vice versa. Some terrorist groups are still active inside Syria.
Referring to the establishment of important fortifications along Iraq’s borders with Syria, the Iraqi Interior Minister said that security measures along the borders with Syria have been strengthened after the recent developments.
Pointing out that Syrian forces are not present in the southern part of the border, Al-Shammari said that the border checkpoints in the southern part of the border with Syria are still empty.
The Minister of Interior of Iraq mentioned the plan to build a wall along the border strip between Iraq and Syria and talked about the measures to complete this wall.
