The member of the board of directors of the scientific association of epidemiologists of Iran, the field of parasitology and the continuous member of Dar Fani Academy of Medical Sciences passed away.
According to RCO News Agency, Prof. Dr. Abolhasan Nadim, a physician, epidemiologist, parasitologist and member of Iran Dar Academy of Medical Sciences, passed away.
Dr. Abolhasan Nadim was born in Tehran in 1307 AH and after completing elementary and high school, he started his medical studies in 1326 and after receiving a medical doctorate from Tehran University Medical School, he continued his research in the field of epidemiology.
For some time, he worked as the head of the Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Tehran University, and in 1340, he obtained a Diploma in Tropical Diseases and Health from the School of Health and Tropical Diseases in London, and in the following year, he completed a course in Parasitology and Practical Entomology. He obtained the diploma of this course in 1341 from London University and then returned to the country.
In 1342, Dr. Nadim continued his work as epidemiology officer of Isfahan Medical Research Station, and in 1348, he was awarded the honorary professorship of epidemiology from Tehran University’s Faculty of Health.
From 1364 to 1367, Professor Nadim worked as a regional consultant for the promotion of health research and a regional consultant for tropical diseases, the regional office of the World Health Organization in Alexandria, and one year after the termination of this collaboration, that is, in 1368, as an epidemiologist and consul of the World Health Organization with The Medical University of Texas at Galveston began its collaboration.
A member of the scientific group to combat vectors in Khartoum, Sudan, a consultant for the control of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Kabul, Afghanistan, a member of the expedition group for common diseases of humans and animals to Brazil, Argentina, America, and Switzerland, and also a consultant for the control of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Saudi Arabia, among other activities. Dr. Nadim is considered.
He recorded the provision of advice for the control of leishmaniasis (SALK) in Afghanistan in his research record.
As a member of the research facilities strengthening group, Professor Nadim started his exclusive cooperation with the special program for the training and research of tropical diseases in 1355, and for 19 years, i.e. until 1374, he worked in this program as a member of the research guiding group. Leishmaniasis, head of the Leishmaniasis Epidemiology Group, member of the Malaria Field Research Group and member of the Strengthening Research Facilities Group.
Dr. Nadim started working as a permanent member of the Academy of Medical Sciences in 1369 and has been working as the head of the Department of Health Sciences and Nutrition.
In 2008, the book Leishmania and Leishmaniasis, authored by Dr. Nadim, published by Tehran University Press, was recognized as the best book of the year in the field of health during the research and technology week ceremony.
He passed away yesterday at the age of 97 abroad.
