Disclosure of the number of American soldiers in Syria
The number of American troops in Syria is twice as many as previously announced.
According to RCO News Agency, Pat Ryder, the spokesperson of the US Department of Defense, announced on Thursday evening that the number of US troops in Syria has reached 2,000.
This is double the number that was previously disclosed. Earlier, it was announced that 900 American soldiers are present in Surrey.
As Syria moves towards a civil war, Ryder claims, the increase in the number of US troops in Syria is to address the US coalition’s “changing mission needs”.
American military bases in Syria are concentrated in the northeastern and southeastern regions of the country.
According to reports, the oil and gas fields in northeastern Syria are under the control of the American military.
The Pentagon had previously announced that despite the developments in Syria and the fall of the country’s government, the American military has no intention of leaving Syria.
