Macron stressed that peace in Ukraine cannot be negotiated without Ukraine and the European Union.

During the past few days, Macron had a short meeting in Paris with Donald Trump, the president-elect of the United States, and Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine. After the tripartite meeting, Trump demanded an immediate ceasefire and the start of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
Tusk also said that Poland and France are on the same side regarding European security and a just peace in Ukraine.
He described the current moment in world history as “critical” and said his talks with Macron had confirmed that Poland and France were “like a single team” on issues such as European security and competitiveness, the situation in Ukraine after the Russian invasion and efforts to achieve They agree on a just peace in Ukraine.
The Prime Minister of Poland also announced the start of work on the new friendship treaty between Poland and France.
Regarding the possible peace talks aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine war, he said that he and Macron have agreed that Ukraine should be present in any talks on peace and any other kind, any proposal should also be acceptable to our friends in Kiev. be
He also said that Poland does not intend to send its troops to Ukraine after the ceasefire. “Decisions about Poland’s activities will be made in Warsaw and only in Warsaw,” he said. Tusk also said he had told Macron that Poland had borne the heaviest burden of any EU member state for the war in Ukraine. These include various burdens including participation in military aid as well as financial contribution.
He also noted that Poland operates “the largest, most vital and unique aid center for Ukraine.”
“We are paying these costs while we are fully convinced that this is the right thing to do and that helping Ukraine is in the interest of Poland, France and the whole of Europe,” Tusk said.
He said: I would like all politicians in Europe and also in Kyiv to hear the message that Poland has also taken responsibility for protecting the NATO border and the EU border with Belarus and Russia. Poland expected full support and cooperation from its partners.
Poland is going to take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union on January 1, 2025 for a period of six months.
