NATO Secretary General accuses Iran and Russia after the fall of the Syrian government
Ignoring the complicity of the member states of this alliance in the war crimes of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip through extensive financial and military support, the NATO Secretary General made a claim about the role of Iran and Russia in the internal affairs of Syria during the government of “Bashar Assad”.
According to Isna, following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in Syria and the transfer of power to the armed opposition of this country, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte claimed today (Monday) that Russia and Iran are “accomplices to the crimes” of Bashar al-Assad and his fall. It showed that they are “unreliable partners”.
After their advances of the last few days, which started from Aleppo and reached Hama, last Saturday, the Syrian armed opposition started their movement towards Damascus from the south of Syria and entered the Syrian capital on Sunday morning and took control of it.
On Sunday, December 8, a Kremlin source told Novosti News agency that Assad and his family members had arrived in Moscow and that Russia had granted them asylum on humanitarian grounds. “Mikhail Ulyanov”, the representative of Russia in Vienna, also confirmed Assad’s stay in Russia today.
The process of forming a transitional government in this country is being investigated.
AFP wrote that Rutte said about the relations between Iran and Russia with the Assad government: Russia and Iran were the main supporters of the Assad regime and share responsibility for the crimes committed against the Syrian nation. They proved themselves to be unreliable partners by abandoning Assad when it was no longer useful to them.
Rote’s claims against Iran’s role are raised while Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said in a television interview that Iran’s support for the Syrian government is one of the three main areas of the Damascus government’s relationship with its own people and Syrian opposition groups. “Iran’s strong connection” with the Syrian government and said: We were not involved in this matter and we had always invited the Syrian government to talk with the opposition and find a political solution. The formation of the Astana trend was a large amount in the same direction. Iran, Russia and Türkiye created a process and yesterday we had its last meeting in Doha. The formation of this process was for these three countries to help carry out political reforms in Syria.
In another part of his speech, Araghchi also referred to Iran’s assistance to protect the security of Syrian citizens and the region against the threat of the ISIS terrorist group and said: Iran played the main role in the fight against terrorism in Iraq and Syria, of course, at the request of the governments of Iraq and Syria. And we sent troops. Of course, this was mainly for our own security and it was a big threat for us to have to deal with ISIS outside our territory. Finally, we succeeded in defeating ISIS. The victory over ISIS was mainly the achievement of the martyred commander Hajj Qassem Soleimani
