Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, or the former Facebook, said that the development team of this collection is trying to bring NFTs into the Instagram space in the near future. He said that he hopes that Instagram users will be able to create their own unique tokens in this program in the next few months.
According to CoinDesk, Mark Zuckerberg said on Tuesday at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas:
We are trying to bring NFTs into the Instagram space in the near future. However, I cannot yet say when this will happen.
Casey Newton, author of the Platformer newsletter at The Verge, says Zuckerberg said he “hopes” Instagram users will be able to create their own unique tokens in the app in the coming months.
In January, the Financial Times reported, citing sources familiar with the matter, that Meta was working on plans for Facebook and Instagram users to display NFTs on their profiles.
It should be noted that Meta has not yet responded to the request of the participants of this festival for more information about the NFTs section of Instagram.
In October, Facebook changed its name to Meta to reflect its focus on the Metaverse and virtual reality. The company had previously said in a meeting that the company’s Metaverse also supports NFTs.
