According to Mehr reporter, researchers need access to iernational scieific databases to learn about the latest scieific achievemes in other scieific ceers of the world, and universities should provide access to these databases by purchasing subscriptions.
However, the access of universities to iernational scieific bases had been difficult due to the accumulated debt. The universities of the Ministry of Science were able to purchase a one-year subscription to these databases by paying part of their debt to the databases through correspondence and consultations conducted by Irandak as the coury’s scieific resources supply council. But the problem of access of medical sciences universities to these databases still remains.
In a conversation with Mehr reporter, Dr. Shahin Akhundzadeh said about the access of medical sciences universities to iernational scieific databases: In the Ministry of Science, good measures were taken on this issue from the previous period, which is now effective and the Ministry of Science has been able to pay its debts to databases to pay, but the Ministry of Health did not take any action in this regard.
He added: We requested the program and budget organization to consider the necessary budget for this issue in the credits of the Ministry of Health. If this is achieved, we can settle part of the debt to the databases and provide access to the databases.
Deputy Minister of Health stated: We are doing our best to get help from anywhere we can. Currely, a letter has been se from the Ministry of Health to the Program and Budget Organization to consider the specific budget line for database subscription.
Referring to the solution of the 11th and 12th governmes to pay subscription fees for scieific databases, he said: Our solution was to allocate one perce of the financial resources allocated by the Ministry of Health to research, but later this payme was stopped and A debt was created. We hope to pay off this debt in any way possible.
Akhundzadeh, in response to the question whether there has been any correspondence with Irandak as the coury’s scieific resources supply council in this field or not; He said: One of the ways can be this issue. I believe that the presideial scieific office, which was active in this field about 15 to 20 years ago, can provide reference databases for the eire coury through the formation of a national consortium.
