According to Mehr news agency, Yonhap news agency announced on Thursday that South Korea’s ruling party has opposed the impeachme of the coury’s preside, Yoon Suk-yeol, after his short-lived attempt to declare martial law.
In this regard, Yonhap reported: A number of legislators who participated in the party meeting said that they have adopted the position of opposing the impeachme of “Yoon Seok-yul”.
According to Sputnik, South Korea’s parliame, on the other hand, has submitted a proposal to impeach the coury’s preside.
South Korea’s preside yesterday ordered the establishme of emergency martial law, accusing the coury’s opposition of “ai-state activities”. Hours later, 190 lawmakers who were able to access the National Assembly building unanimously voted to abolish martial law.
However, South Korea’s military announced that martial law would remain in place uil the preside orders. Lee Jae-myung, leader of South Korea’s main opposition Democratic Party, called the martial law order “unconstitutional” and called on the military and police to return to their normal activities.
Unrest and chaos erupted in South Korea after the Democratic Party last week rejected the South Korean preside’s 2025 budget bill and called for an investigation io several corruption allegations involving Yoon Seok-yul’s wife and some senior governme officials.
