Donald Trump has chosen an American tycoon who donated $2 million to his campaign to be the US ambassador to London.
According to RCO News Agency, US President-elect Donald Trump nominated American banker and investor Warren Stevens as Washington’s ambassador to London. Stevens donated $2 million to Trump’s campaign in this year’s election.
On Monday, Trump announced in a post on his social network, Truth Social, that he had selected Stevens to be the US ambassador to the UK, a move that requires US Senate confirmation.
“Warren always dreamed of serving the United States full-time,” she wrote in the post. “I am delighted that he will now have the opportunity to represent the United States as a top diplomat to one of America’s most beloved and cherished allies.”
Stevens is the chairman and CEO of Stevens Financial Services, which he inherited from his father.
According to the Associated Press News agency, Trump has already announced many of his nominees for the cabinet and prominent diplomatic posts and has compiled a list of his staunch loyalists. He has also announced that he wants to nominate Charles Kushner, the father of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as the US ambassador to France.
In the first round of his presidency, Trump chose Robert Johnson, one of the financiers of his election campaign and the owner of the New York Jets football team, as the American ambassador to the United Kingdom.
