Kremlin: We are making preparations for the doctors’ trip to Russia
Saying that Iran and Russia do not intend to postpone the signing of their comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, the spokesman of the Kremlin announced details about the upcoming visit of the Iranian president to Russia.
According to RCO News Agency, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesman of the Kremlin Palace, said today (Tuesday) that Russia and Iran do not intend to postpone the signing of the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement.
By publishing this article, Novosti News agency reported that Peskov stated: The parties really do not intend to postpone the signing of this agreement.
He added that preparations are being made for the visit of the President of Iran to Russia, but no agreement has been reached on the exact date.
On November 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at the Second Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security that the updated agreement between Russia and Iran will be ready to be signed in the near future, focusing on defense issues.
According to him, the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two countries is one of the factors to strengthen the relations between Russia and Iran and “for the benefit of peace and security at the regional and global level”.
On October 23, during the BRICS meeting in Kazan, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the imminent signing of this treaty in a meeting with Iran’s President Masoud Mezikian.
In addition, Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, said earlier that this document will be signed during a separate visit of the Iranian president to Russia.
Iran and Russia signed a 20-year strategic agreement in 2001, which was automatically extended for another five years in 2020. The two parties also agreed in 2020 to draw up a new document to replace the previous one.
Iran and Russia have not provided details about this strategic agreement so far. According to Russia, the agreement signed between the two sides in 2001 included cooperation in “industry and technology, security projects, energy, peaceful use of nuclear energy and construction of nuclear power plants.”
Peskov also said that the new US military aid to Ukraine will not affect the developments in the field.
Peskov’s comments came after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that the US would provide $725 million in additional military aid to Ukraine, which includes anti-personnel land mines.
Peskov said: All these and others who help cannot change the course of developments and have an impact on the frontline events.
Full membership of Ukraine in NATO
The Kremlin spokesman also said that Ukraine’s full NATO membership would be unacceptable to Russia because of its threat.
In this regard, he stated: This is absolutely against our view of the inseparability of security, and after all, the security of one country should not be ensured at the cost of another country’s security. This is an immutable law in international relations that guides us. Therefore, such a decision is unacceptable to us, because it threatens us. This does not eradicate the root causes of current events.
