Former head of MI6: Europe is practically at war with Russia
The former head of the British Foreign Intelligence Service said that contrary to the claims of some Western officials that Russia and Europe are merely engaged in tension, Moscow is actually at war with Europe.
According to Isna, Richard Dearlove, the former head of the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), said that the British government should look at the conflict in Ukraine as “a real war” with Russia.
He, who headed the intelligence service from 1999 to 2004, made the comments during an interview with Sky News in response to Moscow blacklisting dozens of British officials earlier this week. “We have to face the fact that the Russians find themselves at war with us.”
“It doesn’t necessarily mean a military conflict in the minds of the Russians, but a hybrid conflict or different types of conflict in different arenas,” Deirlauf clarified. He also warned against the possibility of sabotage and said that due to the nature of this conflict, Britain should keep some channels of communication with Russia open.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, England has become one of the main financial and arms supporters of Kiev in Europe, and recently the country’s government provided Ukraine with long-range “Storm Shadow” missiles, missiles that can attack deep into Russian territory.
