Agreement between the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan to deepen strategic partnership
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kassem Jomart Tokayev signed a joint document on Wednesday to deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
According to Isna, this document was signed during Putin’s two-day visit to Astana.
The two countries also agreed on the resumption of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, which will lead to the renewal of Russian oil exports to Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan is a long-standing military and economic partner of Russia and shares a 7,500 km (4,650 mi) border with its neighbor. The two leaders are expected to discuss trade and energy relations, as well as the construction of Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant, which is being built by Russia’s Rosatom.
