The Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Fars Province announced the completion of the restoration of parts of the historic Agha Baba Khan Mosque in Shiraz.
Mohammad Thabit Eqlidi, Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Fars Province said:
Restoration of the stone pool in the courtyard of the mosque, repairs and restoration of the brick parts of the portico and the entrance part of the north and northwest side of the building, painting the metal doors and windows in the entrance part of the naves on the west and east sides of the mosque, as well as the preparation, construction and installation of wooden doors in the required places of the building. It is one of the restoration measures that have been carried out in this historical mosque with a credit of over 1.5 billion tomans.
Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Fars Province Babian added that the Agha Baba Khan Mosque is one of the mosques of the Zandiye period in the historical context of Shiraz.
According to the type of architecture and exterior decorations, which is a combination of bricks and tiles with geometric and knotty designs, and also based on the evidence mentioned in old texts, Agha Baba Khan Mosque is one of the buildings of the Zandiyeh period and one of the prominent works of Shiraz, which are parts of It has been restored.
This religious building is located in the old neighborhood of Ishaq Bey and was registered in the list of national monuments in 1379 with number 3423. The art of capable Iranian architects in the field of tiling, brickwork of porticoes and seven-color tiles used in the construction of the altar has given this mosque a unique effect.
