Two more ancient stone circle sites were discovered in England.
Two previously unknown Neolithic stone circles have been discovered in England.
Archaeologists believe that these sites may be part of a “sacred arch”. Two newly discovered stone circles were built around 5,000 years ago in southwest England. These findings show that Stonehenge was not the only Stone Age stone circle built in this area.
According to Alan Endacott, the independent archaeologist who discovered them, it reinforces the idea of a “sacred arch” of stone circles built around high ground in the area during the Neolithic or New Stone Age.
Andacott told LiveScience that one of the newly discovered circles is similar in size and structure to the central part of Stonehenge, which was built around the same time but is located about 160 kilometers to the northeast.
Analyzes show that several stones at Stonehenge came from other places, and Endacott believes that some of the Stonehenge builders may have also built the new Dartmoor circle.
