Putin: We are in the process of mass production of Orshanik missile system
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a meeting with senior defense officials in the Kremlin on Friday that the country will continue to test the Orshnik missile system and similar weapons.
According to RCO News Agency, Putin said in this meeting: “The achievements and speed of progress of the Orshanik missile system are a source of pride and admiration.”
Emphasizing that the country has a significant stockpile of Orshanik missiles, the Russian president said: “We will continue to test this system. “The results and speed of development of Orshanik show that the domestic school of Russian rocket engineering is fully capable of guaranteeing the sovereignty of this country.”
He further emphasized: “The Orshnik system is not a renewal of the old Soviet systems, but a product of the specialists of the new Russia.” The development of such systems is of vital importance for Russia.
Emphasizing the importance of Moscow having the Orshanik missile system, Putin said: “This system is a guarantee for Russia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “When this system is used en masse against enemy targets, it will be comparable to strategic weapons.”
In the end, he said: “A decision regarding the mass production of Orshanik system has been taken and is being implemented. “Several systems similar to Orshnik are also being tested in Russia.”
