Berlin: America’s decision about the war in Ukraine is important
The German foreign minister said that the United States has made an “important decision” regarding military support to Kiev, referring to the issuance of a license by the United States to Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack Russian territory.
According to RCO News Agency, knowledgeable American officials informed the “New York Times” newspaper on Sunday that the administration of President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to attack deep into Russian soil using American-made weapons and long-range missiles; A decision that has been met with many reactions so far.
According to the Reuters News agency, German Foreign Minister Analena Berbock said before the start of the European Union Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Brussels: “The decision of the American side to continue military aid to Ukraine is very important.”
The “New York Times” newspaper quoted American officials as saying that these missiles will initially be used against “Russian and North Korean forces” and in defense of Ukrainian forces in “Kursk” located in western Russia. Previously, the American media quoted the Pentagon as claiming the presence of at least 12,000 North Korean soldiers in the war in Ukraine. Analysts described the reason for this claim as an attempt to justify the increase in US aid to Ukraine.
Berbuk continued: “I would like to emphasize that this decision of the United States regarding the issuance of a license for the use of long-range missiles by Ukraine in an attack on Russia is not a revision because it was previously presented by our other partners; A decision that is very important at this moment.”
Russian officials, including Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, had warned about this action and declared that such a decision would mean NATO entering the war against Russia directly.
Today, the Kremlin spokesman said: “President Vladimir Putin has clearly stated Russia’s position on decisions regarding long-range weapons attacks on this country’s territory.”
Dmitry Peskov said that the outgoing US administration is continuing its actions to provoke the rising tensions in Ukraine. “It’s clear that the administration in Washington is going to take steps, in fact they’ve talked about it, to continue to add fuel to the fire and to continue to further escalate the tension around this conflict,” a Kremlin spokesman said.
More than 2 and a half years have passed since the war in Ukraine and there is still no prospect of peace in this country. This is while some Western countries, especially the United States of America, insist on sending financial and military aid to Kiev instead of focusing on diplomatic solutions to resolve this conflict, and on the other hand, Russia has repeatedly pointed out that the continuation of such a process will only increase the war. It makes it longer.
The German Foreign Minister also pointed to the allies of Russian President Vladimir Putin and accused these countries: “We warn the allies of President Putin, including Iran and China, that the European Union is preparing new sanctions against them.”
Regarding the permission to use American long-range missiles by Ukraine in the attack on Russian territory, “Wolfgang Buchner”, the deputy spokesman of the German government, also claimed that the country was aware of this decision before the public announcement.
He told reporters: “The German government was aware of this before, and this matter has no effect on the German chancellor’s decision not to send Taros missiles to Kiev.”
Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Schulz addressed the country’s parliament regarding the issue of sending “Taurus” missiles to Ukraine: “In my opinion, this is a very long-range weapon, and the deployment of these weapons is not possible without the presence of German soldiers.”
Since the beginning of Russia’s military operations in Ukraine (February 24, 2022), Western countries, including Germany, as the second supporter of Kyiv after the United States, have sent extensive financial aid and military equipment to Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly asked the West to stop the “pumping” of arms to Ukraine and insists that the continuation of such a process will prolong the conflicts and hostilities between Russia and Ukraine.
