In the latest attacks, Italy announced that an unexploded artillery shell hit the base of Italian forces at the headquarters of the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, and the Zionist regime promised to investigate this matter.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani spoke with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and protested the Zionist attacks against the personnel and infrastructure of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
According to Reuters, Tajani said that the safety of UNIFIL soldiers must be guaranteed and stressed the “unacceptability” of these attacks.
The Italian statement said that the Israeli foreign minister has “guaranteed” an “immediate investigation” into the shelling of the UNIFIL base.
This 10,000-member UN mission, which was established by a UN Security Council resolution in 2006, is stationed in southern Lebanon to monitor the situation along the “blue line” separating Lebanon from the occupied Palestinian territories.
