A permanent member of the Academy of Sciences said: “The lost thing in today’s world is religion without wisdom.” Today, religion has disappeared because religious wisdom has disappeared, while wisdom in the official sense of the word has always belonged to Iran.
According to RCO News Agency, The Political Thought Committee of the Iranian Political Science Association, in cooperation with the Philosophy Department of the House of Humanities Thinkers, held a meeting on “Iranian Iranian Studies and its Intellectual Implications for Today” on the occasion of World Philosophy Day at the House of Humanities Thinkers. Gholamreza Awani was one of the guests of this meeting who gave his speech in video format.
While expressing his happiness regarding the holding of World Philosophy Day in Iran, he said: The fact that UNESCO has paid attention to announce a day as World Philosophy Day and invites all the countries of the world to hold such a day goes back to the importance of “philosophy”. Science has no depth without philosophy, which unfortunately is not given much attention in Iran.
Awani added: The Federation of Philosophical Societies in the world, which was first a part of UNESCO but is now independent, holds a world congress every five years, and it has been held in different countries in the past few years. The last congress of this federation was held in Rome and about eight to 10 thousand articles were sent to this congress, most of them were about the philosophy of science, and this shows that science does not progress if it is not accompanied by philosophy, and this is what we call it. We are careless. When I was the head of the Institute of Wisdom and Philosophy, we also organized a world congress of philosophy, which was very good.
This enduring face of philosophy continued: I have said many times that according to Ibn Khaldun, all sciences, both theoretical and intellectual, came from Iran, and all the great intellectuals were from Iran, without exception, and intellectual sciences mean philosophy, and this is true because philosophy and wisdom It did not exist anywhere in the Islamic world, instead, anti-rational tendencies prevailed; If it exists now. The wisdom we had in Iran has never existed anywhere in the world. Elders such as Khwaja Nasir, Ibn Sina and Farabi, Maragheh school, Isfahan school, Tehran school, etc. are all related to Iran.
Awani stated: Considering what I said, we have to do a few things; For the advancement of science, we must pay attention to the philosophy of science. Another thing is to be present at the famous world congresses of philosophy in the world, where great philosophers are present. After doing these two things, we should pay attention to our own wisdom and see what our elders did in Iran, what did Farabi, Ibn Sina and Khwaja Nasir do? In this way, we can realize the contribution of Iranians in the production of science and wisdom. An important point is that it is true that new sciences are connected with philosophy, but they are not connected with our wisdom; Neither in the field nor in the university. What they teach in the field has nothing to do with today’s world, even if they do it somewhere, it is superficial and has no depth. Therefore, on the pretext of World Philosophy Day, it is necessary to pay more attention to the philosophy of science.
Quoting from the Academy of Sciences, this professor of philosophy further said: Philosophy deals with the presupposition, nature and ontology of science, the principles of science and issues that are not discussed in science itself. For example, one of the mistakes that are made in Qom and other places, and even Henry Carbone made this mistake, is that they remove nature, while this is wrong; Because ancient natural sciences showed the relationship between natural sciences and divine knowledge, and what we lack today is exactly that; That these new sciences have no relationship with wisdom and we study sciences from the perspective of Westerners. While in the past, they considered every science as wisdom and even those who were not wise like Abu Rihan Biruni. Our missing link is to read the famous and original books of the West and see what they wrote and how they criticized each other, because this will greatly help the progress of both human and non-human sciences. Today, we teach the parable in Western science, but we have nothing to do with the criticisms that were given to him.
This member of the Academy of Sciences stated: “Iran” is the turquoise bridge of cultures; In the sense that its impact on the cultures of the world was greater than that of India, China and the West, because the West did not know the East at all, and through Iran, the West got to know the East. Gilson says in his book History of Philosophy: Saint Thomas has spoken thousands of times about Avicenna, or for example Avicenna’s “law” was known and used in China. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to our past culture in China, India and the West and their influence in today’s era. The basis of Aristotle’s discussions on essence and appearance, but the basis of Ibn Sina’s discussions is existence and essence, and he introduced these two terms into the world of Islamic philosophy and Western philosophy, as metaphysics is the basis of both, and Heidegger and Husserl also talk about existence. Apart from this, we have hundreds of issues that are hurting the world today from a ruling point of view, and the Westerners are doing this. The lost of the world today is religion without wisdom. Today, religion has disappeared because religious wisdom has disappeared, while wisdom in the official sense of the word has always belonged to Iran. More importantly, it is necessary for us to enter into a dialogue with the rest of the world’s philosophers, because according to Plato, philosophy is a dialogue. He says: Wisdom brings friendship, but controversy brings enmity; So, instead of arguing, we should have a platonic dialogue in order to achieve brilliant results in this land.
