Antoine-Khuvan Sorogin’s photo shows Izadkhast Castle at the end of the Qajar period.
Izadkhasht Castle is one of the lesser known historical sites of Iran. A strange castle that some call it one of the oldest apartments in the world.
Izadkhasat Castle dates back to the Sassanid period, but detailed research has not been done about it yet, and in recent years, it is not in a good state of restoration. In the collection of photos of Antoine Sorogin from the late Qajar period and the early Pahlavi period, there are interesting pictures of the Izdkhasht castle with the possible inhabitants of the castle or its surrounding areas.
The historical castle of Izadkhasht is located in Fars province, the central part of Abade city, southeast of Izadkhasht city, and it is also registered in the list of national monuments. Also, last year, the Izadkhas caravanserai, which is located near this castle, was registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
