Marco Rubio, Trump’s choice for State Department
The President-elect of the United States, Marco Rubio, announced the Florida Republican Senator as his choice for the post of Secretary of State.
According to RCO News Agency, President-elect Donald Trump issued a statement on Wednesday evening, announcing Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio as his choice for the position of Secretary of State.
“He (Rubio) will be a strong ambassador for America, a true friend to our allies and a fearless fighter against America’s enemies,” Trump’s statement said.
According to the analyst of the British News agency, this choice should come as a relief to America’s European allies, who are worried that the Trump administration will withdraw from its global network of alliances, including NATO, due to Trump’s “America first” approach to foreign affairs.
Rubio, 53, is known as a staunch anti-China figure, an outspoken critic of Cuba’s communist government and a strong supporter of the Zionist regime. He has in the past advocated a more assertive US foreign policy with regard to America’s geopolitical enemies, although his views have more recently aligned with those of Trump.
Earlier, in an interview with Reuters, the sources of the article mentioned that Rubio supports a hostile foreign policy with regard to what they call “the geopolitical enemies of the United States, including China, Iran and Cuba” and said that he is certainly the most belligerent option for the position of the US Secretary of State.
Donald Trump was able to defeat his Democratic rival in the November 5 election and was able to enter the White House for the second time. Slated to be sworn in in January, he is assembling his team. In his first administration, Mike Pompeo led the US State Department, and Trump has said that he has no place in his second administration. “Rex Tillerson” was the Secretary of State for one year in Trump’s first administration. He was the chairman and executive director of ExxonMobil oil and gas company.
