According to the report of Mehr news agency, quoted by Reuters, the American airline “Spirit Airlines” announced that one of its flights to Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, was hit by gunfire near the destination airport and was forced to change its route and land in a neighboring country. That is, it has become the Dominican Republic.
This airline confirmed the damage to the said plane and announced that it was out of service immediately after landing in Santiago.
Also, according to this company, one of the plane’s crew was injured and “Miami Herald” wrote that this person was shot. None of the passengers were injured.
A video circulating online shows where the bullets hit. It seems that several bullets hit the luggage compartment above the passenger seat.
The U.S. Embassy in Haiti issued a travel alert, announcing that all flights to and from Toussaint-l’Ouverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince have been suspended. The plane was shot down while an hour before, Alex Didier Félisame was officially announced as the new Prime Minister of Haiti.
