Zelensky: Concession to Russia is suicide for Europe
Ukraine’s president said it would be “suicide” for Europe if Europe were to give concessions to the Kremlin to stop Russian military operations against the country.
According to Isna, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized those who want Ukraine to accept some of the demands of Russian President Vladimir Putin in a meeting with European leaders in Hungary on Thursday.
“There is a lot of noise about the need to give in to Putin, back down and make concessions,” Zelensky said. “This is unacceptable for Ukraine and suicidal for all of Europe.”
Ukraine’s president has accused some European leaders of encouraging the country to “force concessions” to Putin. He stated that this would encourage further aggression.
“We need more weapons, not support for negotiations,” Zelensky said during the meeting. Hugging Putin doesn’t help. “Some of you have been embracing him for 20 years and it’s only gotten worse.”
The host of this meeting is Viktor Orban, the Prime Minister of Hungary, who has repeatedly opposed the West’s support for Kyiv.
Zelensky also asked Europe to maintain strong relations with America after Trump’s victory in the US presidential election.
Trump has repeatedly criticized America’s aid to Ukraine and has announced that he will end the war that Russia started against Ukraine in 2022 within hours of taking office.
