Burrell: With Trump’s victory, we will build a strong and independent Europe
While congratulating “Donald Trump” on his victory in the US elections, the head of the European Union’s foreign policy said that with his inauguration, the European Union will strive to create a strong and independent Europe.
According to RCO News Agency, “Joseph Borrell” in charge of the foreign policy of the European Union today (Wednesday) congratulated “Donald Trump” on the victory of the American presidential election and emphasized that the European Union will continue to build a strong and independent Europe.
“Congratulations on the election of Donald Trump,” Burrell wrote in a message on the X social network (formerly Twitter). This choice will affect all regions of the world, including Ukraine and the Middle East, which are important for global security.”
He continued: “The European Union will spare no efforts to maintain its dynamic relationship with the United States based on its common foreign and security policy. At the same time, the EU will continue to strive to advance its strategic responsibilities, from security and defense to climate, and to build a strong and independent Europe.”
The US presidential election was held on Tuesday (November 15), and Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States and representative of the Democratic Party, was Trump’s main rival as the Republican Party candidate.
All the American media have reported that with the counting of a large part of the election votes, Trump has crossed the threshold of the necessary votes to enter the White House and will become the 47th president of the United States. He managed to exceed the 270 electoral votes required for the presidency and defeat Kamala Harris.
Many analysts have predicted that with Trump taking office, the role of the United States in the NATO alliance and its support for Europe will decrease, especially the armed support of Ukraine against Russia.
Reports indicate that Trump intends to force Ukraine to negotiate with Russia and end the war by reducing support.
