The most expensive election in America; 11 billion dollars have been spent on advertising
The 2024 US election cycle is officially the most expensive of all time, according to data firm Ad Impact, which tracks nearly $10.9 billion in total US political ad spending.
According to RCO News Agency, the United States is witnessing presidential, congressional, and gubernatorial elections, and the competition to enter the White House is very intense, and the parties tried and advertised until the last minute to attract voters.
According to a report by information firm AdImpact, this year’s election ad cycle has surpassed the previous benchmark set in 2020, when campaign spending totaled $8.5 billion.
Ad Impact found that a huge chunk of this cycle’s spending — $2.2 billion — took place in the past 2 weeks alone.
The top ad spender at the time was the Democratic-aligned PAC Future Forward, which spent more than $170 million, with the top market being Philadelphia, where more than $106 million was spent.
According to CNBC, as in 2020 and 2016, the Democrats outscored the Republicans in the presidential elections. But unlike that competition, Florida received the lowest ad spend in the final 60 days of the 2024 cycle.
In fact, there was no significant advertising spending in Florida, and the Sunshine State, for example, spent less than $1 million on advertising over the past 2 months.
It’s a strong indicator of how competitive the parties view the district, which has voted for Trump in the past two terms and has recently seen a surge in GOP voter registration.
