A fire in the British nuclear submarine factory
The police announced that two people were injured after a fire broke out at the British nuclear shipyard in Cumbria.
According to Isna, this fire occurred in the “Barrow-in-Furness” shipyard, a subsidiary of the “BAE Systems” company in England, which is responsible for the construction and production of nuclear submarines in this country.
According to the Guardian newspaper, the regional police announced that the fire broke out in this area around 45 minutes in the morning. Also, there is no risk of leakage and atomic radiation, but residents should stay at home and not open windows.
Two people are in the hospital due to smoke inhalation caused by the fire.
“BAE Systems” company also announced: “We are cooperating with the emergency services to contain the fire in the area. “Two employees were taken to the hospital due to smoke inhalation caused by the fire.”
The company continued: “So far, this fire has caused casualties and everyone has been evacuated from the shipyard.” Additional information will be provided.”
The shipyard is home to the Astute-class nuclear attack submarines and is where BAE Systems is building the Dreadnought-class submarines that will be used as Britain’s triple nuclear deterrent.
