Despite the presence of seven percent of the world’s natural and mineral reserves in Iran, the budget for exploration of mineral reserves in the country is only about one-tenth of the world standard.
According to RCO News Agency, Reza Jadidi, Director General of the Office of Planning, Information Technology and Budget of the Geology and Mineral Exploration Organization of the country, stated the above: the ultimate goal of exploring mineral reserves is to identify the mineral assets of each country, which is one of the most important tools of the country’s power in the field of natural and mineral resources. goes
He continued: Iran is expected to be the origin of seven percent of the world’s natural and mineral reserves, and its identification in the first stage requires the provision of financial and human resources and hardware, software, and brainware infrastructure. However, considering the challenge of expert manpower and the challenge of technology in the mining sector, the amount of budget and financial resources spent in the field of exploration of mineral reserves in the government and development sectors of Iran, including governmental organizations and state-owned companies, is very small.
The director general of the planning, information technology and budget office of the country’s geological and mineral exploration organization said: In the best possible case, in 1402, including the exploratory excavations of the development organizations of state companies, the equivalent of 83 million dollars was spent in the field of exploration of the country’s mineral reserves, which includes the production of basic information. Geology and exploration is the identification and search of mineral deposits, general discoveries and exploratory excavations, of which about 20 million dollars are the financial resources of the Geology and Mineral Exploration Organization and 63 million dollars are the financial resources of the Mines Development and Renovation Organization and its subsidiaries and affiliates.
He further added: The standard review of mineral developing countries shows that their average expenditure in the field of exploration is close to one billion dollars, which shows that Iran has spent almost one-tenth of the world standard for exploration, which according to the forecast of seven percent The natural and mineral reserves of the world in Iran, the share of government resources including governmental organizations and state companies in the exploration of mineral reserves is very small and causes the risk of private sector investment to increase.
According to the public relations of Geological and Mineral Exploration Organization of the country, Jadi, the way out of these financial conditions is to reform and restore the financing system by the Program and Budget Organization and to reform the structure of state-owned companies through capital attraction or participation and said: implementation These strategies are needed to provide financial resources for the exploration of the country’s mineral reserves. Also, the revision of the annual budget and the budget of the governing, development and state-owned companies is another way out of financial issues, which has not had an acceptable trend in recent years.
According to the Director General of the Office of Planning, Information Technology and Budget of the Geological and Mineral Exploration Organization of the country, the exploration of mineral deposits includes four parts: identification, prospecting and general and detailed exploration, which in developing countries and leading countries identify and prospect because of the high risk and possibility Failure to do so is done by governments and public and detailed explorations by development sectors and the private sector.
