Erdoğan: We disagree with Washington about Türkiye’s national security issues
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is in New York, said that Ankara has a disagreement with the US government about its national security issues.
According to RCO News Agency, the leader of Turkey, who traveled to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly, said: “We still have disagreements with the American government on some issues related to our national security.”
According to the Turkish state News agency Anatolia, Recep Tayyip Erdogan also added: “Whoever becomes the president after the upcoming presidential election in the United States, Ankara’s view of the United States and the high-level dialogue in relations will not change.”
“We patiently continue to try to solve the crisis in Ukraine”
Referring to the war in Ukraine, the Turkish president also emphasized that Turkey patiently continues efforts to establish peace in Ukraine, while the global security system is collapsing.
Erdogan emphasized: “The war in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years, threatens regional and global stability. From the very first day, we emphasized that in order to achieve sustainable peace in the region, diplomacy should be prioritized. We consider every drop of blood spilled and every day of conflict a great loss. “Understanding this, we patiently continue our efforts to establish a just peace.”
The Turkish president pointed out that “certain lobbies” did not want the talks to resolve the conflict in Ukraine in 2022 in Istanbul to reach their goal.
He added: “We have made and are making efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Negotiations in Istanbul have proven the success of Türkiye’s active role. However, some lobbyists did not want these efforts to reach their goal. “In any case, we are doing and will do whatever it takes to end the war without allowing new destruction.”
The Turkish president also noted that the global security system is losing its effectiveness. He stressed: “I want to emphasize the following points as well. The world system has started to lose all its efficiency and credibility. Institutions whose responsibility is to ensure peace and security are suffering from an obvious moral collapse.
