Salvage excavations led to the discovery of a Sasanian quadrilateral.
Director General of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts of Lorestan province announced the discovery of four arches of Sassanid fire temple remains in Rashidabad village of Kohdasht city.
Ata Hasanpour, referring to the emergency excavation in this village, said:
Following an unauthorized excavation in the early spring of this year, rescue operations and emergency exploration have been carried out in the mentioned village.
Director General of Lorestan Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts added:
With intelligence and security observations, the unauthorized prospector was arrested and after several months of consultation and follow-up to secure credit, this prospecting was done in the last 15 days. After 15 days of field exploration and opening of the ancient trench by the explorers under the supervision of Dr. Sajjad Alibeigi, an important part of this Sassanid fire temple was discovered.
Referring to the importance of this ancient discovery in western Lorestan, Hassanpour said:
The discovery of this fire temple has determined the lost historical ring of the Sassanid period in the west of Lorestan province. In this salvage excavation, the main arch (four jars), the fire pit, architectural elements and angles such as decorative plasters have been discovered. Also, the Tawaf hall and the outer fence of this fire temple have also been discovered.
